FAQ:
IF A STRING BREAKS ON MY EXISTING BLIND, DO I NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE BLIND?
Absolutely not. Most shades and blinds can be re-strung, and we do offer these services as well.
IF I HAVEN'T SELECTED MY FURNITURE YET DOES THAT MEAN I SHOULDN'T START THE WINDOW TREATMENTS?
No, not at all. The most important thing is color. Decide on a color scheme that you love...Whether it's wall color, fabric color, or the color of the carpet, the rest of the room must coordinate back with that color. By selecting a fabric for the windows, it makes it easy to move from there to your sofa, especially because most often the furniture is going to be a solid color, and often neutral. However, if you've fallen in love with a pattern for your sofa, it's just as easy to coordinate window treatment fabric in a complimentary pattern, or simply a solid color to blend. The same is true for bedrooms and kitchens.
WHAT ABOUT MOTORIZATION? WHY DO I
NEED IT?
Adding motorized lift systems is a simple as a battery and hand-held
remote, or as complicated as integrated wiring systems within your
home and working with your electricians when building your home.
Either way, we are the experts. Whether it's a hard to reach
window or perhaps you have physical limitations, or even if your
multiple window room requires operating shades daily, motorization
is a great solution. All shades will rise and lower at the
same level. Always they can be programmed to stop at different
positions. You can program a timer to raise and lower your
shades at the same time daily which is added security when away from
home.
CAN I MOUNT MY SHADES OR BLINDS INSIDE THE WINDOW FRAME?
Most people like the idea of seeing their molding "frame" the shade or blind. The answer to whether or not that is possible depends on the depth of your window molding AND the size of the bracket for the particular product you've selected. However, we can provide the installation such that in the event that your window doesn't allow enough room for the bracket inside your frame, we can still mount on the outside but show your frame around the blind at the same time.
I LOVE LIGHT BUT I NEED MY PRIVACY ALSO. WHAT PRODUCTS DO BOTH?
Hunter Douglas offers several products to achieve this goal.
Their SILHOUETTE, PIROUETTE, and LUMINETTE products offer exactly that feature all in one type of shade by utilizing sheer fabrics which allow you to see through, but give you daytime privacy from the outside. At night, you simply close the blind such that you have total privacy, without ever raising or lowering the entire shade. But they have added the "top down bottom up" option to most of their other products too, which also allows you to let light into the room while preserving your privacy at the same time.
WHAT IS A SUN CONTROL SHADE?
This is a mesh shade that enables you to never loose your ability to see outside, while eliminating the damaging effects from the sun, including ultra violet rays which contribute to fading of fabrics on furniture and drapery. They reduce glare and heat as well, and come in a variety of colors and textures. They are categorized by their openness factor.....3%, 5%, and 10% are the most common. This means the reduction in UV, is 97%, 95%, and 90%. These are the perfect treatments to protect your furniture, or eliminate sun glare. They do not however offer privacy at night, so they work best in common areas in the home like TV rooms or highrise apartment living, or commercial applications such as restaruants, offices, lobbies.
